MED ASSISTANT

Job Title: Medical Assistant
Department: Neurological Clinic
Reports To: Office Manager / Neurologist
Position Type: Full-time / Part-time
Hours: Monday – Thursday 8:30 am – 7:00 pm

Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join
our neurological clinic. The ideal candidate will assist healthcare providers
with patient care, perform administrative tasks, and ensure the smooth
operation of the clinic. This role requires a strong understanding of
neurological conditions, excellent communication skills, and the ability to
provide exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities:

  1. Patient Care:
  • Greet patients and prepare them for examination.
  • Obtain and record patient vital signs, medical history, and current
    medications.
  • Assist neurologists during patient examinations and procedures.
  • Educate patients on neurological conditions, treatment plans, and
    medication instructions.
  1. Clinical Support:
  • Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring they are clean and
    well-stocked.
  • Sterilize medical instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
  • Coordinate patient referrals to specialists and schedule diagnostic tests.
  1. Administrative Duties:
  • Manage patient appointments, including scheduling, rescheduling, and
    cancellations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the electronic health
    record (EHR) system.
  1. Team Collaboration:
  • Work closely with neurologists and other medical staff to provide
    comprehensive patient care.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of
    patient care plans.
  • Provide support and training to new medical assistants as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred completion of a Medical Assistant program from an accredited
    institution.
  • Preferred previous experience in a neurological or specialty clinic is a plus.
  • Proficient in using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic knowledge of neurological conditions and medical terminology.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move patients and medical equipment.
  • Visual acuity to read medical charts and monitor equipment.
